Professional Profile

Ms Ranjit Sandhu is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in small incision refractive cataract surgery with premium lens implants offering spectacle independence or correction of near sight (myopia), far sight (hypermetropia) and astigmatism. Her expertise in medical retina and uveitis ensures good visual outcomes in those with diabetic eye disease and inflammation of the eye (uveitis), making her one of the few surgeons offering surgery for complex cataracts.
Ranjit specialises in the use of the latest intravitreal injection therapies including Lucentis, Eylea, Avastin, Ozurdex, Iluvien and Jetrea for treating a wide variety of retinal conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy), retinal vein occlusion, retinal telangiectasia, myopic new vessel formation, central serous chorioretinopathy, fluid accumulation at the central retina (also known as the macula) or macular oedema and medical treatment of vitreomacular traction.
Her area of expertise includes immunomodulatory therapies for treatment of non-infectious posterior uveitis or inflammation at the back of the eye, and laser treatment for diabetic eye disease.
Ranjit offers treatment for general eye conditions such as watery, red, itchy or sore eyes, blurred vision or more significant loss of vision, floaters and flashes of light, elevated eye pressure (glaucoma) and small cysts or lumps.
She obtained her postgraduate doctorate (MD) at the University of London evaluating ocular blood flow in retinal disease. She undertook the vast majority of her postgraduate ophthalmic training at King’s College Hospital (London) and Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge) and completed a Fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital, an eye hospital of international acclaim. She has presented at both national and international conferences and published in peer reviewed journals.
She has two boys and is passionate about running, cycling, trekking and walking. She has recently completed a London to Paris bike ride for charity in July 2016 and is taking part in a charity Iceland trek in September 2017.
