Professional Profile
Mr Butt’s practice encompasses all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery, from arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery to complex reconstructive and revision procedures. His NHS base is the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH, Stanmore), where he sees patients referred from across the country for the management of complex instability, infection and revision joint replacement.
He qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ London Medical School achieving a BSc in Neuroscience alongside his MBBS medical qualification. During his Orthopaedic Training in London and the South East of England, he completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Science at the University of Brighton.
He has undertaken two specialist fellowships at world renowned institutions of Guy’s Hospital London and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, with special emphasis on complex shoulder and elbow reconstruction. He was awarded the prestigious Watanabe Travelling Fellowship in 2017 and used this opportunity to visit Specialists of arthroscopic shoulder surgery at National Centres of Excellence.

Shoulder disorders: arthritis, sports injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder joint dislocations and instability, labral tears, SLAP lesions, fractures, acromio-clavicular joint (ACJ) disruptions, subacromial impingement, bursitis, calcific tendonitis, frozen shoulder, biceps tendon disorders.
Elbow disorders: arthritis, stiffness, fractures and dislocations, ligament injuries, biceps tendon ruptures, tennis and golfer’s elbow (epicondylitis), ulnar nerve neuropathy (cubital tunnel syndrome).
